Remote Learning

Striving for EXCELLENCE and EQUALITY through EQUITY and EMPOWERMENT

You are not alone!

Remote does not mean inaccessible. In fact, at St Helen's, it is anything but. Our teachers and support staff are working throughout the day responding to and supporting our children and families.

The school office remains open for phone calls and we are contactable out of school hours through our dedicated email address: COV@sthelensprimary.net.

Contact addresses for class teachers can be found at the bottom of this page.

EYFS (Nursey and Reception)

EYFS continue to use Tapestry to deliver learning activities. This is a combination of hangouts, pre recorded videos, links and activities.

We encourage parents to photograph their children and upload their own personal learning experiences for us to respond to. We love sharing those milestone moments and praising the efforts of all involved.

Supporting SEN and EAL pupils

All presentations are created on aqua backgrounds to reduce visual stress. Visual and oral supports are given in terms of diagrams and voice overs (including optional sound buttons) to help support those who find reading challenging.

All interventions such as Nessy and Dynamo can be accessed at home, as can Flash Academy.

Further support can be requested via email or through a private message on google classroom.

Parents can also contact Mrs Travis directly on sendco@sthelensprimary.net for SEN support or advice.

Key Stage One and Two

Learning for the pupils in the rest of the school is delivered via Google Classroom. Every child has their own email address and password and have been shown how to log on and join in activities whilst in school.

Each year group has a clear timetable where teaching is delivered as a combination of pre-recorded lessons or presentations with voice overs.

Each evening the next day's work is shared via the platform for maths, English, guided reading or spelling/phonics and a foundation subject . Tasks are set for pupils to complete using Google suite which allows pupils to submit their work and be given feedback, praise their efforts and supporting them to move learning on.

A teacher is always on hand from 9am - 4pm everyday to answer questions through the live stream, or on an open google hangout 'drop in', if face to face is needed.

Timetables are shared for the week.

Keeping Connected

We all know that it is important that we stay connected at this time and it is good for the children and adults to connect each week for their own wellbeing.

Each class will have 2 assembly type hangouts each week with their teachers, one based upon reconnecting and the other of motivating and sharing successes.
